U.S. Air Force Academy

Hello fellow grads and Happy Anniversary!  You may or may not remember from your Contrails trivia that April 1 is the anniversary of the establishment of the Air Force Academy.  Isn’t that also April Fools day?  What irony.

The USPS is issuing a commemorative stamp with a first day of issue of Apr.  The AOG has commissioned Fleetwood to hawk some associated wares. I received a mailer pitching these wares and they have a website you can use if you are interested.  Here’s a link http://www.unicover.com/ofr_casf.htm to the site.

Also, I received some suggestions you might want to consider as appropriate ways to observe the anniversary:

·         Wear your ring.
·
Remove the dust from the top of your diploma.
·         Call a classmate.
·
Find your yearbook.
·         Read a copy of the eDoDo
·         Fill out a comment card with fast, neat, average, friendly, good, good.
·         Have a happy AF day.
·         Hire a grad.
·         Go to the post office and buy some commemorative stamps.
(Not available locally until 2 April)
·         Find a West Pointer and remind him or her that it is quality not quantity.
·         Email this to a grad with a note.

On another note, the next Twin Cities Service Academy Networking Breakfast will be Friday April 2. The location is still the Holiday Inn just northwest of the intersection of HWY 169 and I-394 in Saint Louis Park. For directions, please go to directions.  If you are interested in attending or learning more about the breakfast, contact me.  An RSVP is not required to attend, if you could RSVP to Michael Farley at mfarley@farleyplanning.com by COB Thursday the day prior, it is appreciated in order to prepare a roster of those attending.  Feel free to pass on to other Grads in the area or call classmates or other Grads to meet for breakfast. That’s about all I have for now.  Have a Happy Anniversary!  Jeff Shields ‘79, email guy.
